FAQ

Here are a few of the questions which I am most often asked.

What is a celebrant?

Celebrants create and lead customised ceremonies for various events, providing a flexible, welcoming approach that suits each person’s needs. Whilst there are no formal celebrant qualifications, I trained with the UKSOC (United Kingdom Society of Celebrants), and I am continually updating my knowledge and skills.

Where can we hold our ceremony?

One of the most significant benefits of hiring a civil celebrant for your wedding/naming ceremony is that it can take place anywhere. Geographically, I’m willing to come to any location you choose for the ceremony* whether it’s a medieval castle, your favourite pub, or a park in your neighbourhood.

(* Subject to additional travel expenses outside the Greater Manchester area)

How long does a ceremony have to be?

Your ceremony can be as long or as short as you wish. It will be bespoke to you so you won’t feel rushed or become disinterested. Often wedding ceremonies are 30 minutes or so. For other ceremonies we can discuss this during our meeting.

Are celebrant wedding ceremonies legal?

In a word, no. In England and Wales, you must make an appointment for a statutory marriage registration (commonly known as a 2+2, yourselves plus 2 witnesses). This is a short and simple process. Local costs apply. For further details, please contact your local registry office.

What will the celebrant wear?

I will be dressed in smart attire during all ceremonies; I tend to wear smart or floaty dresses, but of course, I would be happy to discuss this with you when we meet, especially if you have a particular theme.

Do you perform ceremonies for people who identify as Lgbtqia+

Yes, Yes I absolutely do. Although it’s a shame that this question needs to be asked in this day and age. I pride myself on being inclusive and would happily work with you to create your perfect day. Be it a wedding, civil ceremony, funeral, or adult naming/gender identity ceremony, I like to think I can offer a safe and welcoming environment where everyone feels welcome.

Are your ceremonies religious?

While I have no religious beliefs myself, I am more than happy to discuss any spiritual elements that are important to you.
